# Article 10 — Retention of information on the payer and the payee accompanying the transfer

**Source:** [Regulation (EU) 2023/1113 — EUR-Lex](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32023R1113)

Intermediary payment service providers shall ensure that all the information received on the payer and the payee that accompanies a transfer of funds is retained with the transfer.

## What this means in practice

Intermediary PSPs are conduits, not endpoints. Their obligation is **simple but absolute**: every piece of payer/payee information they receive must continue downstream with the transfer. Stripping fields — for technical convenience or otherwise — is a breach.
